February 4, 2010 The Olympic Spirit

While I was walking around the Athletes Village, I saw a small rock with the words on it "make it happen". It was so subtle and everyone missed it because it was so small. It was almost like an athletes shrine where they would walk by, pause and then move on. So I took a picture of it and I think it explains very simply what the athletes are wanting to do.

  1. Hi again Tim:
My students thought that little rock was great! Thanks for taking the photo. A question from one of my students. "What kind of camera do you have?" I know, not that interesting a question but hopefully we'll get some better ones as the month goes on.

  2. Hello Tim,

It's Mr. Keraiff and our grade 5 class here at Lakeview. We've been following your posts all week and really enjoy the pictures and fun stories! We've just completed Olympic posters and presentations so the students are really excited about the up coming games. One question from the class: "What's it like hanging out with all the elite athletes?"

    p.s. Emma says "Hi"

  3. Hello Lakeview!
I will try and answer any questions you have while I am here and I am happy to do so.
Well, I use a very simple digital camera. It is a cheap Samsung Digimax D53. I transfer all my pictures daily from my camera to my laptop via a SD card.
What is it like to hang out with elite, olympic athletes? Well, for the most part, they really are people just like you and me but we understand and they understand that they are here for a reason.... to compete on the Olympic games. We aren't here for a holiday and neither are they. We leave them alone for the most part because they are busy preparing for the games and we don't want to do anything that will distract them. But I will say it is pretty cool to see these athletes from all over the world.
